About Us

The Cabin in the Meadows

Welcome to the wonderful world of Savary Island and our  beautiful rental cabin in the Meadows area  (southwest corner) of the island. We are located at 1328 Tennyson Road, 150 feet west of McLean Road, just behind the middle of the tree-line in the photo at the left. The photo was taken from the beautiful Sunset Trail Beach just west of us. Check out the 3 photo galleries on the menu bar at the top. The cottage-style cabin is available for rent  July through October. We are offering special rates for September. July and August are still open for our limited rentals.  (See Rates and Dates page for details updated March 8, 2025.

Great facilities and location

Our Cabin in the Meadows is close to several wonderful beaches (check the photos), great walking trails and quiet places to just relax or read a good book. Indian Point - Savary's most westerly end - is only about 2 kilometres (1.5 miles) away and is a great place to enjoy wide, flat beaches to throw or kick a ball around or wade into the warm waters for a swim. Close by the cabin are several art galleries - including mine (scroll to bottom of page for more information) - and  one or two drop-in coffee shops and an antiques-and-art shop.

Cabin Features

The cabin has all the conveniences and features to make your stay a memorable one. There are the basic appliances and necessities - propane stove, oven, and an electric, frost-free refrigerator, pressurized shower and full bathtub, as well as features such as a moveable kitchen island and a separate, matching kitchen cart with all the utensils and cooking aids you will need. There is a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom, a bunk bed in the living room, and another ladder-accessed bunk at the end of the kitchen/dining area (check the photos). A leather sofa and love seat add to the comfort.

Island Highlights

We had been coming to Savary Island for several decades for vacations and building the cabin. For the last number of years we  have  enjoyed our annual escape from city life for the whole summer. In 2009 I opened my art studio and gallery to sell my acrylic paintings of Savary - mid-July to Labour Day - and at several open air shows around the island during that time. Check it out by scrolling down to "about the gallery." We stay in the gallery and use our other fully- serviced buildings nearby when we have guests or renters in the main cabin. This means I am on-site to run and maintain the systems during the rental period. We have our own large deck situated well away from the rental cabin, which serves as our summer outdoor living area.

Island Highlights

Savary Island has many special features that you will want to explore, starting with the amazing beaches that surround most of its coastline. Only about 7.5 kilometres long and an average of about 1/2 kilometre wide, the island winds its way into the upper Georgia Straight starting just off the mainland near the little harbour town of Lund. From there it runs west  towards Campbell River on Vancouver Island some 30 kilometres away. Because Savary lies right in the zone where the ocean's tidal waters in the Salish Sea divide to flow around Vancouver Island, the water retains heat from the sun and is heated even more when the water comes in over the vast expanse of sandy beaches exposed at low tide.
